| Every Fall, for the last six years, to mark the changing of the season, I have created a painting that is based on an image of autumn leaves. This painting was started Autumn of 2002. The three leaf images on the left were created by pressing actual Japanese Maple leaves into wet paint, letting the paint dry to form an impression, then removing the leaves. The lunar cycle and growing green "shoot" are both motifs that have appeared in previous paintings (see "Amaryllis: Cycle of Life" and "A Fragile Fall"). "Kouyou" is Japanese for "autumn leaves". | ||||||||||||||
